2. Someone other than Terry McLaurin must step up

In the two games against Philadelphia in 2019, McLaurin had 10 catches, 255 yards, and two touchdowns. Coming into the 2020 NFL season he is the only proven skill position player on Washington. He will receive added attention this year.

McLaurin is so talented that that extra attention won’t stop him from remaining his elite play. However, with the Eagles having added a true No. 1 cornerback in Darius Slay, Washington cannot rely on McLaurin to be as good as he has been against the Eagles on Sunday.

McLaurin very well could be and that would be a huge bonus. However, they need a big day from one of the other skill position players. Out of the group of Steven Sims, J.D. McKissic, and Antonio Gibson one of those players will have to step up.

Each player has the tools to be really productive and cause matchup problems for any team. As Haskins begins his first full season as Washington’s starting quarterback, he will need a reliable second option. The game Sunday against Philadelphia, with the added attention McLaurin will receive, will help him figure that player out.

It is also crucial to earning a victory. The more weapons Washington has and can rely on, the better. It will create more one-on-one matchups for the rest of the skill players. Washington can’t rely only on McLaurin on Sunday; they need to find Haskins a second target.
