Washington Football Team Week 1 Reality Checks
By Tim Payne
4. The Reality Is… Haskins is fearless.
Dwayne Haskins has taken to heart every single thing Ron Rivera has thrown at him this offseason. He’s done everything you could ask of your young passer. And he was clicking by the end of last season already. I expect a big leap from him this season, and I expect it to start this Sunday.
He’s going to be running for his life at points, since the Washington O-line is questionable at best. But Haskins is going to find a way to produce and keep the team in the game.
Expect lots of motion, bootlegs, reverses, and two-back sets to keep the Eagles’ pass rush off-balance. Expect Haskins to get knocked around a bit, but expect a professional quarterbacking performance out of the young man.
My Prediction: Haskins goes for 248 yards on 17-29 passing, with two scores and one pick. He starts to earn that “C” on his uniform in the minds of quite a few doubters.
