How Washington Football Team can beat the Eagles in Week 1
By Kyle Hundley
1. Get Dwayne Haskins comfortable early
In his first offseason as the presumed starting quarterback of the Washington Football Team, Haskins put in some serious work in an effort to improve and make the leap that many think he will make this season. He has a new coach who believes him, a new offensive coordinator in Scott Turner, and some new weapons at his disposal.
In their first game last season, then quarterback Case Keenum was able to get off to a fast start throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Haskins has the ability to have that type of performance, but the key will be getting him in his groove early.
Look for Turner to get Haskins’ confidence level up with some quick, easy completions early in the game before taking some shots downfield to Terry McLaurin.
With the release of Adrian Peterson, who carried the team in stretches last year, the Washington offense is now Haskins to lead. If Haskins can find his rhythm early and get locked in, he could be in for a big day against the Eagles. If he does not, Washington could struggle to move the ball on offense.
