The Washington Football Team is kicking off the first game of the Ron Rivera era against the Philadelphia Eagles. Here’s the preview for the Week 1 matchup.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. The NFL is getting ready to kick off their 2020 season.

On Thursday night, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans will square off in a Thursday Night Football opener that some never expected to happen. Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, the NFL has found a way to organize camps, test players, and ensure the health and safety of their employees. And that has led to the start of the season.

But here we are, and today is the day. And just shortly after that, the Washington Football Team will play their first game of a new era. Goodbye, Jay Gruden. Hello, Ron Rivera. Goodbye, Greg Manusky. Hello, Jack Del Rio. Goodbye, Bruce Allen. Hello, Kyle Smith.

The changes that Washington has made this offseason have been massive and they have inspired a general hope among the fan base that this time, things may be different. And rightfully so.

But before the new organizational brain trust can, in fact, be trusted in full, they have to accomplish something. They need to put forth a competitive product on the field. That’s not to say that they need to win Week 1, but they do have to put forth a competitive showing that will, win or lose, give the fans hope that the future is bright.

Washington will get a good test with the Philadelphia Eagles coming to town. The Eagles are considered to be a potential playoff team and some pundits think that they could win the NFC East. If Washington can compete with them, or even beat them, they’ll have a chance to show the rest of the league that they’re not to be taken lightly with Rivera at the helm.

With that said, here’s an in-depth look at Washington’s Week 1 game against the Eagles, starting with a look at Washington’s offense.
