Back Seven

LB Donald Payne. Washington will likely keep a linebacker on the practice squad. Of the options they have, Donald Payne, who has some starting experience with the Jaguars and is still relatively young, seems like the most appealing.

CB Ryan Lewis. You can never have too many cornerbacks on the roster. Lewis was scooped off waivers from the Miami Dolphins and is a good athlete. He’s worth developing for a year and can be added to the roster if injuries strike at the position.

CB Aaron Colvin. Keeping a veteran corner doesn’t hurt either. Colvin has a lot of experience with the Jaguars, Texans, and Washington and can be a backup slot man if the team needs him. He can be kept on the roster as a veteran exemption in this unusual season.

S Jeremy Reaves. Reaves has been on the practice squad for the better part of two years and has looked good in coverage in seasons past. He couldn’t beat Apke, Everett, and Curl for spots this year, but keeping him as a fifth safety is a nice option.

It will also be interesting to see if Washington tries to keep Sean Davis on the practice squad after cutting him. Considering that he was a cheap player that easily could’ve made the roster, it might be a nice option for the team. That said, the fact that they didn’t keep him on the roster at a low price may not bode well for his chances of sticking around.
