Offensive line and additional remarks

Let’s talk briefly about the offensive line. That group of players is never mentioned in the stats, but their roles are vital to the success of the offense and the team.

Look for a few variations on the line this season. Barring injuries, Brandon Scherff and Morgan Moses will start and play all sixteen games. Chase Roullier will continue to start at center, but the left side of the line remains very unsettled. We should know in the coming weeks how it will all unfold.

The quarterback competition that some fans are talking about is not a competition at all. Haskins is the starter and Allen is the backup. The Alex Smith comeback is an amazing feel good story for now, but it is too early to pencil him in for a roster position, or know if he will spend time on the PUP or IR lists.

There are five running backs listed for now, but it could be whittled down to four.  If the Washington Football Team decides to go with the lesser number, look for Barber to be the odd man out.

Soon, the focus of our predictions will shift to the defense. We will start with the defensive line and linebackers in a few days. Soon thereafter, we will take a look at the safeties, cornerbacks, and special teams. The opening game is three weeks away. Football is knocking on the door!
