Quarterbacks

Dwayne Haskins is the undisputed starter of the Washington Football Team. To think otherwise is to ignore the praise he has been given this offseason and in training camp. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see Haskins with a slow start early in the season, but look for him to make very positive improvements throughout 2020.

Prediction for Haskins: 351-538, 3616 yards, 29 touchdowns, 15 interceptions

Kyle Allen will be the primary backup. The only action he is likely to see is in “mop up” duty, but an injury to Haskins obviously pushes Allen to the forefront.

Prediction for Allen: 13-21, 112 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception

Alex Smith continues to provide valuable leadership to Haskins and Allen, and that shouldn’t change. If Alex Smith does see any action in 2020, it will be long after the game is decided and his statistics will be minimal.

Regardless, Smith could be named NFL Comeback Player of the Year — even with a very limited amount of action or none at all. He will not be traded or released anytime soon. His mentorship for Haskins and Allen is actually worth the salary. Bottom line — Smith is one of the most valuable assets the Washington Football Team is fortunate to have on the roster.

Steven Montez will certainly head to the practice squad as a protect player. Montez could be elevated to the roster with any unfortunate injury or injuries. Otherwise, the former Colorado Buffalo will take a “redshirt” season.
