Interior Offensive Line (6)

Wes Schweitzer, Chase Roullier, Brandon Scherff, Wes Martin, Keith Ismael, Kevin Pamphile

The modern NFL emphasizes having a lot of talent and depth on the offensive line. Washington doesn’t have a lot of top-tier talents, but they do have enough guys with upside and experienced vets to consider carrying 10 total offensive linemen. And frankly, it could behoove them to do so.

Currently, they don’t have an established starter at left guard. It seemed like either Wes Martin or Wes Schweitzer would take the starting job there, but with the addition of Kevin Pamphile to the group, the veteran could challenge for the position as well.

And even if Pamphile can’t win the starting left guard job, he still provides valuable experience and versatility. While he has mostly played guard during his NFL career, he has a 6-foot-5 frame and has played some at tackle. So, he could be a super-sub along the line thanks to that. Either way, having him and Schweitzer around would give the team some flexibility among the reserves.

Elsewhere, Roullier and Scherff are roster locks and starters. And Ismael, a fifth-round rookie, should factor in as the team’s backup center and may be the long-term replacement for Roullier, a 2021 free-agent. So, he is virtually a roster lock as well.

Provided that Washington stays healthy on the interior, they should be in decent shape. Someone will have to step up at the left guard position, but one of the many options they have there should pan out.
