Bryce Love has passed his physical for the Washington Football Team and will be ready to go for training camp.

For the first time at the NFL level, Bryce Love will see the football field. After missing the entirety of his rookie campaign while recovering from a torn ACL suffered at the end of his college career, the fourth-round pick will start a battle for a roster spot in a crowded Washington backfield.

As Ron Rivera confirmed to reporters during a Tuesday press conference, Love passed his physical ahead of the Washington Football Team’s training camp. As a result, he avoided the PUP list and will be able to practice without limitations moving forward.

And Rivera and Co. are looking forward to seeing Love on the field, per Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic.

Much like Rivera, Washington fans are surely excited to see Love in action as well. The 2017 Heisman runner-up ran for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior before regressing a bit as a senior and then suffering the injury. But he still has a sky-high ceiling and could end up being a contributor in the running back room.

Getting on the field is certainly important for Love. Washington added quite a bit to their running back room this offseason in third-round pick Antonio Gibson and free-agent signees J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber.

Given those signings coupled with the fact that Love was a selection of the old regime, he isn’t guaranteed a roster spot. But being on the field will give him a chance to win one, provided that he can stay healthy.

Love is going to be one of the biggest Wild Cards of the Washington roster battle. The 23-year-old could emerge as a key part of the team’s running back rotation or Rivera and Scott Turner could opt to go in a different direction at the position. There’s no telling exactly what will happen.

Next. Tight ends Washington could trade for. dark

Love is truly on the roster bubble but could very quickly play himself onto the team. As training camp goes on, the truth about Love’s future should reveal itself.
