Riggo’s Rag Redskins Mailbag: Potential surprises, position battles, more
NFL training camp is approaching fast. Here’s what to know about an important season for the Washington Redskins.
The Washington Redskins are facing one of their most important seasons in the past five years. Technically speaking, you could’ve said that about each of the last three years of the Jay Gruden era, as he was on the hot seat and the team was facing quarterback questions between the Kirk Cousins franchise tag situation and Alex Smith’s injury. But this year is important for a different reason.
The 2020 season is going to be all about change for the Redskins. Ron Rivera is bringing in a new regime with a rehauled coaching staff, a significantly different roster, and a new program for the players to buy into. This year will be about establishing a culture, finding leaders, and ultimately getting the team heading in the right direction.
Because of this, there is a lot of uncertainty around the squad. Add in the COVID-19 pandemic and the questions that the league is facing and this training camp should be extremely meaningful for the team.
Will the Redskins find unexpected playmakers and be better than people expect in 2020? Will Rivera’s plan be able to take effect? And how exactly is this roster going to shake out with so many unsettled position groups?
This week, the Riggo’s Rag Mailbag is answering the biggest questions you have about the Redskins’ upcoming training camp. Thank you to those who submitted questions and without further ado, let’s get this show on the road starting with the tight end position.
