Cornerback (5)

Kendall Fuller, Fabian Moreau, Jimmy Moreland, Ronald Darby, Aaron Colvin

You know, looking at the cornerback room now, it doesn’t look like a glaring weakness. There is certainly uncertainty; Ronald Darby must stay healthy, Fabian Moreau must keep developing, and Kendall Fuller has to show he can take on a full-time cornerback role after being a situational defensive back in Kansas City.

But with all this being said, the Redskins could certainly do worse at one of the defense’s most important positions, and there’s potential with each player. All four of the team’s top cornerbacks are elite athletes, and if things work out in their favor, they could genuinely surprise behind the team’s stout defensive line.

The only point of contention at this position group is the Redskins fifth cornerback spot. Jacob gave that spot to Aaron Colvin, and I’m inclined to do the same. Danny Johnson could fight for it, but the team went out of its way to sign Colvin midway through the offseason. Colvin has previous starting experience, and although he’s been relegated to a backup role over the years, he provides the kind of security you want behind an uncertain starting core.
