Redskins: Predicting the 2020 stats for each incoming rookie

Kamren Curl
It’s possible that neither one of the Redskins’ seventh-round picks make the initial 53-man roster in September. As you’ll see on the next slide, there are a number of factors complicating James Smith-Williams’ roster bid, and Kamren Curl might not have the traits to separate himself as a roster-worthy safety.
In the surface evaluation, Curl has some intriguing traits, most notably his height, his versatile production at the collegiate level, and his moderate explosiveness. But on tape, Curl does not pass the eye test. His speed is a definite hinderance to his overall productiveness, and he doesn’t play with enough urgency or instinct to remedy that.
Curl’s best value will come as a special teams player, but even then, there are other players in the Redskins’ safety room, such as Deshazor Everett and Jeremy Reaves, who might better fill that role as well. There’s a chance Curl could be promoted to the active roster late in the year due to injury, but otherwise, I don’t think he sees the field at all.
