Re-grading the Washington Redskins 2012 NFL Draft
Round 6
The draft to this point in our look back is nothing short of a disaster and that much is obvious. However, the Redskins struck gold early in the sixth round. A little-known running back from Florida Atlantic was the choice and many fans had one question at the time: Who?
Alfred Morris would quickly capture the hearts of Redskins fans, and raced to a franchise-record 1,613 yards in his rookie season. It was simply spectacular. Morris produced two more seasons of 1,000 yards on the ground. In 2015, his last season in Washington, “Alf” ran for more than 700 yards. Since then, he has spent time with Dallas, San Francisco, and Arizona.
Later in the sixth round, the Redskins chose to add another lineman, South Dakota offensive tackle Tom Compton. The former Coyote spent most of his first season on the practice squad and was a decent backup for three additional years. Since then, he has bounced around between Atlanta, Chicago, Minnesota, New York (Jets), and San Francisco.
