New York Giants: CB James Bradberry

The Redskins cornerback group is one of the thinner positions on their roster. They have some young talent in Fabian Moreau and Jimmy Moreland who may be ready to prove themselves. And free-agent acquisitions Kendall Fuller and Ronald Darby should have a chance to play roles in the secondary.

That said, Darby is on a one-year deal and had issues with injuries during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles. So, while he was a good buy-low investment, he isn’t a sure thing. Meanwhile, the team’s overall depth is lacking, so they could use a true corner on the outside to help them out.

Luckily, the Giants have a guy who would fit the bill in free-agent acquisition James Bradberry. The former Carolina Panther was expected to be a target of Ron Rivera when he came to Washington. Instead, the team focused on avoiding the bigger-money free agents and added cheaper options like Fuller and Darby.

But with a chance to poach a player from the Giants roster, perhaps Rivera would go with a guy like Bradberry. He won’t turn 27 until August and was a four-year starter in Rivera’s defense. He fit well as a big, physical corner and could play a role similar to what the Redskins were hoping Josh Norman would play when they signed him to a big contract back in 2015.

Bradberry has logged eight interceptions and 47 pass defenses during his time in the NFL. He’s physical but has good ball skills and is a great option as part of a starting corner tandem. He would’ve been a perfect partner for the now-departed Quinton Dunbar, but he’d still fit well across from either Darby, Moreau, or Moreland with Fuller manning the slot. And if the team still needed outside corner help in 2021, they could target an athletic player with their cap space or draft assets.

Other Giants that could make sense are linebacker Blake Martinez, receiver Darius Slayton, or running back Saquon Barkley. But given the plethora of young options that the team has at each of those positions, it makes sense to target a guy like Bradberry to upgrade a true weakness, though if injuries struck at running back, having Barkley around would surely be nice.
