Depth chart projections

This brings us to the final depth chart projections.

The depth chart at quarterback right now looks to be clear. But like all projections in this “Deep Dive” series, anything can change. Injuries, free-agent additions, and on-field performances all play the biggest part in the final roster. But for now, here is my projected depth chart.

Dwayne Haskins will be the starter Week 1 against the Eagles. The former first-round pick will have his chance to cement himself as the future with a new coaching staff, front office, and quarterbacks room behind him. The job will be his to lose.

Kyle Allen will make the roster as the primary backup. He is a very talented young player who realistically could start for a team in the near future. But he will have to take some time to keep growing and learning, and with Haskins along the ride, they will push each other in the right direction. Allen’s previous work with new offensive coordinator Scott Turner will add an extra layer of comfort in the case that Allen is thrust into the starting position.

Steven Montez will be a camp body, but the Redskins will be forced to roster only two quarterbacks with the depth needs on the offensive line and at receiver. But you better believe the team will want Montez around in the future.

Next. Where Khaleke Hudson makes the biggest impact. dark

My projection has Montez as the Redskins practice squad arm and in the emergency need for a backup in the regular season, the former Colorado QB could find himself on the roster come game day.
