Defensive Tackle (5)

Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Matt Ioannidis, Tim Settle, Caleb Brantley

This is the easiest position group to select when looking at the Redskins roster. It only gets a bit difficult when looking at the last tackle to make the roster.

Payne, Allen, and Ioannidis are all roster locks. They were a terrific trio last season in the 3-4 and the new 4-3 alignment should only help them to find more success. Allen especially should benefit from this change thanks to his inside/outside ability.

Settle is a premium backup at the nose tackle position. He brings a big 6-3, 308-pound frame to the fold and had two sacks last season in limited playing time. He’ll continue to help stuff the run, keep guys fresh, and he only turns 23 in July.

As for Brantley, he has just one tackle in eight games for Washington over the past two years. But he only turns 26 in September and still has a nice athletic skill set. The team could do worse at the position and unless he gets hurt again or flames out, he should be favored to be the team’s eighth defensive lineman.
