The NFL career of an Unheralded Player is not linear. They have to take their opportunities when they come along.

Some come into the NFL knowing that this will be their career arc, but others are caught by surprise, and forced to fight for their NFL vitality, when they were supposed to have four years of security from the start. Washington Redskins wide receiver Emanuel Hall fell victim to this outcome.

Hall was a wide receiver in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he was expected by some to be drafted on Day 2 of the event. But such an exalted selection would not come to Hall, as he was instead passed over seven times by each team. He would go undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, and ultimately sign with the Chicago Bears in undrafted free agency.

Now, two teams and one full year later, Hall is fighting to keep his NFL hopes alive with the Redskins. The odds are mounting, but no Unheralded Player has an easy road to traverse. That harsh reality wasn’t supposed to be Hall’s, but it is. How can he make the best of it?
