Former Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar has a warrant out for his arrest. Here’s what to know about the crime he and Giants CB Deandre Baker are accused of.

This offseason, the Washington Redskins made the decision to offload Quinton Dunbar for a fifth-round draft pick. At the time, the move was viewed as a poor one as it was believed that the team could’ve gotten better value for Dunbar than that. But Ron Rivera didn’t want a player who had been chirping about a bigger payday to distract from his implementation of a new culture in the Redskins locker room. So, they traded him below peak value.

And after a report that dropped on Thursday night, the team will certainly be happy that Dunbar is no longer in Washington.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there is a warrant out for Dunbar’s arrest in connection with an armed robbery. Here’s what Schefter said about the situation, which also involves New York Giants cornerback Deandre Baker, on Twitter.

Calling this bad would be an understatement. And when looking into the description of the warrant, courtesy of the Miramar Police Department, it doesn’t look any better for Dunbar or Baker. Here’s a partial description of the events, as transcribed from that warrant.

"When [redacted] looked inside the residence, he saw DeAndre Lamar Baker with a gun in his hand. Baker was pointing it at one of the attendees of the party. [Redacted] alleged that Baker was directing two other individuals to take money and valuables from the other attendees. [Redacted] also stated that Quinton Disheen Dunbar was assisting in taking the money and valuables from the attendees."

The warrant contains more information. Included among that: varying accounts about whether or not Dunbar was armed, how Baker allegedly directed another individual involved with the robbery to shoot guests at the party, and several other party-goers that Baker, Dunbar, and others allegedly robbed. But while Baker was charged with armed robbery, there was a caveat about Dunbar’s involvement that was stated at the end of his arrest warrant.

"This Affiant could not conclusively state that Dunbar committed the offense of aggravated assault with a firearm, however he was still an active participant in the armed robbery aiding and [assisting] Baker and the other unknown offenders."

Even if he was unarmed, it’s disturbing either way that Dunbar would be involved in these events. His fate in the legal system, along with that of Baker, is unknown at this time. But even if they somehow face reduced charges there, they will almost certainly be disciplined by the NFL, if warranted, under the league’s personal conduct policy, as Schefter points out. This situation will definitely be something to watch in the coming days.
