Redskins way-too-early record prediction after schedule release
By Ian Cummings
Week 5 – Redskins vs. Rams
Recent NFL history will give the Rams the natural edge in this one, Sean McVay’s squad has fallen since his Super Bowl appearance two years ago. The offensive line was a big problem last season, and Les Snead didn’t do anything to fix it this past winter. Defensively, there’s uncertainty, as the Rams moved on from Wade Phillips, and are now employing first-time defensive coordinator Brandon Staley.
Because of the punch both teams are packing along their defensive lines, I expect this one to be relatively low-scoring. Aaron Donald never makes things easy on the interior, and Washington’s line should be able to make Jared Goff uncomfortable. The Rams’ secondary has the talent to tip the scales, but because I’m feeling generous, I’m giving the Redskins their first win of the Ron Rivera years here, at home against a familiar face.
