The Washington Redskins added eight draft picks and four undrafted free agents to their roster during the 2020 NFL Draft. Here are the numbers for the new players.

With the 2020 NFL Draft now in the books, Washington Redskins fans have been looking forward to the all-important next step in the offseason. Jersey numbers.

With the influx of new draft picks joining the roster, one of the first questions that always rears its head is, “What numbers will the players wear?” It doesn’t really matter, but it’s worth knowing so fans can 1) know what jersey to look out for and 2) figure out what positions hybrid players are set to play.

And numbers can sometimes give a tip as to who might make the roster. That’s not always the case but if a player gets a single-digit number or the team doubles up on a certain number, that can be a sign that the player wearing that number may not ultimately make the roster.

But, I digress. The Redskins announced the numbers of their newest players on their team website on Wednesday. Here’s a look at the rookie class’ jersey numbers.

In addition to those players, the team announced the jersey numbers for their undrafted players. They are:

And two players switched numbers. Caleb Brantley will wear No. 96 after giving the 99 jersey to No. 2 overall pick Chase Young while tight end Caleb Wilson will now wear 45 instead of 83.

So, the primary takeaways include the fact that Young is set to wear the 99 jersey. That had been speculated to be a number he might target, and The Predator should look good in that jersey across from Montez Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan on a line full of talent.

Elsewhere, the fact that Gibson will wear 24 is notable, as it confirms that his primary position he’ll play with the team is running back. He should work as an explosive weapon and pass catcher out of the backfield, but his presence in that role could create a roster crunch at the position. The likes of Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber, and J.D. McKissic will all be fighting for the spots on the team’s roster, and it’s anyone’s guess who will make it outside of Gibson.

Charles will be wearing the No. 77 jersey that was worn by left guard Ereck Flowers last season. Flowers signed in Miami as a free agent. Meanwhile, Gandy-Golden will wear No. 10 which belonged to Paul Richardson during his disappointing two-year stretch with the Redskins.

It’ll be cool to see all these players once they’re in action. And maybe a few of them will be able to hold onto these numbers long-term and become impact players in Washington.
