Here are some Redskins-centric takeaways from Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft!

• The obvious pick for the Washington Redskins fourth-round pick is K.J. Hill. I believe he is the best available player. The Maryland wildcard: Go get this baller.

• The Rams fleeced the Redskins at every chance they could. Cam Akers looks like a third-down beast in the mold of Chris Thompson in his heyday, compared to the somewhat relatively unknown Antonio Gibson.

• Was McVay sticking it to Snyder himself with the pick of Terrell Burgess in Round 3? I think safety is one of our biggest holes after the loss of Montae Nicholson. Nicholson looked very good in stretches before his personal tragedy last season, if one was sitting in the stadium actually watching.

• McVay’s pick of WR Jefferson is that possession receiver the Redskins would love to have again.

• Belichick passed on Fromm and Eason—so the Redskins should follow that lead for the high value pick in the fourth.

• I was happy the Redskins went defense, then offense and special teams. Now can we get some coaching? If we do, expectations are going to change quickly with this team.

• Antonio Gibson has me salivating in terms of his physical comparison to running back Ricky Ervins. All of the sudden, it seems like there are less holes to fill as the Redskins obviously are looking for a player to step up and take over the return duties.

• Who is the last great returner for the Redskins? Brain Mitchell and Darrell Green. Andre Roberts did well after leaving us. Santana Moss was incredible, but because of durability, he was hardly ever put back in that situation.

• So now, it looks like Antonio Gibson will be that player that can fill in as a third-down back, slot WR, KR, PR, and waiter of morning breakfasts orders.

• Can stand to mention Bryce Love as he had had so many injuries… but Bryce Love. It looks like we have options on offense.

• Sorry, Adam Trautman would have been just another big tight end in camp with a lot of options.

• The most electrifying highlights I have seen of any player has been KJ Hamler. Wonder if Elway, even with his Super Bowl redemption, when he closes his eyes sees ‘the No way, Elway’ Super Bowl memories of Dougie’s 35-point quarter. Was that pick in honor of Gary Clark or Ricky Sanders? Or just a player who seems to have dropped through the cracks?

• Was I alone yelling at my TV for the Redskins to move up and swipe DT Jordan Elliott? Heck, it is a rebuild, right? Are we not going for the best available players at every position? One in the hand is better than two in the bush. In a 4-3, we need as many DTs as possible. Even if we are above .500 this season, we could still use DTs.

• Elliott, predicted to be a high second-round pick, was passed over until Cleveland’s third-round pick. That is when I officially entered the “please come back Trent” mode for this draft.

• The Trent Williams sweepstakes possibly end now with the late Ed McMahon, Jr. being reincarnated and accompaning Trent to SF or Minnesota or whenever he lands.
Trent is a seven-time Pro Bowler.

• A few picks before Elliott went to the Browns, the Cowboys picked Neville Gallimore, another DT from Oklahoma via Canada who was almost rated as high as Elliott. Makes you wonder who Danny was on the phone with—right, Jerry was on his cell? Guess Jerry could not go Oklahoma-Alabama-Missouri—and bust?

• Matt Peart is the kind of player I would have liked to see the Redskins trade for after I found out that he grew up in extreme poverty in Jamaica. For this culture change platform of Rivera, are we looking at social platforms? I certainly hope so more than numbers. Peart, Kinlaw, Hurts, and Ruiz have seemed to deal with adversity that most of us have not had to endure. How nice it would have been to see Peart land in Burgundy and Gold instead of red, white, and blue.

• CB Troy Pride, Jr. I am hoping falls to the Redskins at No. 142. Remember second-round pick Tom Carter was a Notre Dame player who was a huge bust for the Redskins years ago. Was that during Gibbs? I think so. But I am always attracted to ND players in the NFL Draft.

• As aforementioned, my obvious pick is K.J. Hill, not just because Haskins said he would like him to be on the team. We still need offense and for the culture change, let us keep going with homegrown talent!

• Cornelius Lucas and Geron Christian battling at LT looks much better than the athletes that are currently left. They all appear like projects.

• Another thing, pundits are already saying Tua can be eased in because Ryan Fitzgerald can tutor and teach him as a starter until he is comfortable. Marino never stayed on the bench for a minute with his iso-toners and all?

• What is all this chatter coming out of MIA? Beyond me!
