2020 NFL Mock Draft: Sifting through the pre-draft noise
I’ve had Kenneth Murray here in every one of my mocks this year, I think. But now, he’s off the board. So, the Raiders will have to regroup and consider some other options.
Given the way the board has fallen, it still seems likely that the Raiders will go with a defensive player. They actually could consider doubling up at receiver, but it makes more sense for them to target some players to polish off their back seven.
The Raiders need a starting corner across from Trayvon Mullen and a third linebacker to finish off what could be an elite trio featuring Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski. Overall, this pick came down to Clemson’s A.J. Terrell and LSU’s Patrick Queen, but I went with Queen because he’s a better value.
Queen was great for LSU last season. He logged 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, three sacks, and one interception for the Tigers and played a big role in helping the team win the National Championship Game. He’s very athletic and instinctive and should have a chance to be a three-down player at the next level.
The best part with Queen is that his ceiling is still high. He was just a starter for one season at LSU, which is pretty incredible considering the impact he made on the team. It may take him some time to adjust to the NFL level, but if he can make strides in his first year, the Raiders’ linebacker corps will go from a weakness last season to a strength this year very quickly thanks to their three new starters.
