Round 4, Pick No. 142: Jack Driscoll, OL, Auburn

For my Red Dead Redemption fans, no, he isn’t an O’Driscoll so you can surely trust this young man.

Anyways, Jack Driscoll at the 142nd overall selection is an interesting pick for the Redskins, one they should make if the opportunity presents itself.

Driscoll has a huge 6-foot-5, 306-pound frame, he was a swing tackle for the Auburn after transferring there from UMass. But, I don’t believe he’ll translate to being the same reliable swing tackle in the NFL.

Driscoll’s game, size and play style benefits him more if he was put in at the guard spot rather than a tackle. Either way, if the Redskins wanted to try him out at both tackle spots, or on the interior offensive line, he’d be a success surely in my opinion.

Driscoll is one of the more fluid athletes at the position in this year’s NFL Draft. Driscoll excels as a positional blocker. He’s a very mobile blocker, with quick feet, nice hand technique and a high football IQ that is evident with the patience he plays with on the line.

He isn’t anything special though. He won’t blow you away with the Trent Williams type athleticism or the Brandon Scherff like pancakes. But he can fill the need of being a solid swing tackle for the Redskins and make even more of an impact if he was to move to left guard.

The Redskins have struggled to fill that left guard spot for many years now. With the days of Shawn Lauvao over and ex-Redskins Ereck Flowers in Miami, the Redskins can have a competent player opposite Scherff in Driscoll should he continue to progress and play to his strengths like he did at Auburn.
