TE – Adam Trautman, Cole Kmet, Brycen Hopkins

I’m sure you’ve heard this many times by now, but the 2020 NFL Draft tight end class is indeed weak. There’s no clear-cut No. 1 option. Chase Claypool, were he to switch to tight end, would have the uncontested top athletic profile, but stylistically, making the switch is more complex than that.

For now, we’re not considering Claypool as a tight end, and instead going with the usual candidates. Adam Trautman is my TE1 for the moment, given his size, agility, and toughness on the field. He’s followed closely by Cole Kmet and Brycen Hopkins; Kmet is an explosive straight-line athlete who has the size and burst to find a role, while Hopkins is a more effective receiving threat with his smoothness and his feel for zones.

None of the tight ends in the 2020 NFL Draft are sure to hit, but if you were to pick three of them to put on an all-rookie team, you’d at least have two of these choices.
