Round 1, Pick 2

Will Pick: EDGE Chase Young, Ohio State

This is just about set in stone at this point in time. Young figures to be the next member of the Washington Redskins and he should afford the team an opportunity to build a truly elite defensive line.

In his final season at Ohio State, Young logged 16.5 sacks and was borderline unstoppable even with opposing offenses keying in on him. He should consistently generate pressure at the next level and will have a chance to be a double-digit sack artist right away. And he will likely challenge for the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in his first season.

Should Pick: EDGE Chase Young, Ohio State

There’s no need to overthink this pick. While Young doesn’t fill one of the Redskins biggest needs, he is the top talent on the board and should be a difference-maker for Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio’s defense. More than anything else, the Redskins need talent. And Young has more talent than any other player in this draft class.

Dark Horse: Trade Down to target Isaiah Simmons or Jeff Okudah

This possibility has been discussed by many in the lead-up to the 2020 NFL Draft, but it was always a longshot for the ‘Skins to consider doing this. If they weren’t sold on Young or got a big-time offer to move down, they could’ve targeted either Simmons, a hyper versatile and athletic linebacker who would fill a big weakness, or Okudah, who could’ve helped to replace Quinton Dunbar as the No. 1 cornerback.

But at this point in time, it seems that the Redskins have made up their mind and Young is going to be the pick.
