Are there any Redskins on the roster for the next All-Decade team?

To make an All-Decade team, an NFL player needs great statistics at his given position. But, more importantly, that player needs to take over the football field, and his opponents.

An example of an absolute All-Decade player at a position: L.T. aka Lawrence Taylor — a bad word for some Redskins fans (sorry, J.T.) — for a few seasons back in the 1980s, played like a man amongst boys.

These All-Decade players look like their play is against lesser competition. Elite, on a higher level, dominant, All-Pro, the list of adjectives can go on and on.

Most players, even the best player in an organization for the decade, will not make the All-Decade team. Most teams are lucky to get one player on this team.

This century, would the late Sean Taylor be the only Redskins player, while in their prime, with a spot on an All-Decade team if he’d had the chance? Check stats, stats kid. Sean Taylor — a man amongst boys —  is the face of the Redskins this century, good and bad.

Having career years for five, seven, or ten years is a good example of an All-Decade player. Adrian Peterson did this during the 2010s with the Minnesota Vikings. Since he has been with the Redskins, he has shown elite flashes.

I will say Peterson is still an elite performer in stretches — not nearly a 300-carry, 2000-yard back, but we could still ride him to a Lombardi. But that is for another blog about Adrian Petersen being the “second coming of Riggo!”

In terms of production, for the all decade team of the 2020s, there is no one player at any position thankfully, because we have not played a down yet.

That being said, the following Redskins I predict MIGHT be on the All-Decade team. And, I know many of you readers are thinking, “Is this writer predicting first contact, too?” Hmmmm… lets check the comments on this paragraph.

One more thing: This list is very unscientific. Of course, these are best-case scenarios for players in our organization. Feel free to add in your favorite Redskins for this team! And please, no mention of anything Dallas!

I have watched, at the stadium and on TV, elite play or players playing like men amongst boys at times. And the really exciting thing is there are no stats yet this decade for the stats geeks to disapprove. They can have their stats. So without further ado!
