1. player. 56. . Quarterback. Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow

Let’s get the obvious out of the way. Joe Burrow is going to be the pick here. The Bengals need a franchise quarterback and Burrow is viewed as the safest option to become a starter at the NFL level in this loaded quarterback class.

Last season, Burrow was a star for the Tigers. He completed 76.3 percent of his passes for 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and just six interceptions while adding 368 yards and five scores on the ground. He led LSU to an undefeated season and a national title as a result of his stellar play and took home the Heisman trophy as well.

Burrow’s prolific season came out of nowhere for the veteran passer. In his first year as a starter, Burrow comported himself well, but he was largely viewed as a mid-round prospect with developmental upside. But after Joe Brady came aboard to help organize the passing game in Steve Ensminger’s offense, Burrow really took off.

Burrow has a solid arm and is a hyper-accurate thrower. His ball placement last season was insanely good and he rarely ever misfired on a throw. His ability to avoid mistakes in key moments did a lot to keep the Tigers competitive. And when adding in his very good mobility and his ability to throw on the run, Burrow looks like a sure bet to succeed at the NFL level.

The only drawback with Burrow is that he was somewhat of a one-year wonder. As such, it may take him a bit longer than expected to develop at the NFL level. But his ceiling is still sky-high and even if he’s not excellent out of the gate, he should still be a solid starter.

Burrow would give the Bengals exactly what they need. A quarterback that can officially replace Andy Dalton and usher in a new era for the team. Burrow will be the selection here and the only question will be about how he fares in his rookie year with Zac Taylor.
