This offseason, is the focus of the Redskins brain trusts on improving the speed at some of their positions of concern? The evidence suggests it is.

Obviously, there is much more than speed-intangibles to becoming an above-average football player in the NFL. Guts, cutting ability, instinct, and smarts all matter too.

Yet, it looks like some of the signing, cuts, and trades made by the Redskins brain trust of Ron Rivera, Kyle Smith, Jack Del Rio, et al. involves a focus on upgrading the roster’s speed at positions of concern.

This year, competitions appear to be brewing involving faster players, at least according to their NFL draft combine speeds.

So, let’s use players’ 40-yard dash times to compare some of the players competing to start for the Washington Redskins at cornerback, middle linebacker, wide receiver, tight end, and safety. And also, some of the players the Redskins brain trust have let go this past offseason at these positions will be discussed.

This should be fun. Let’s dive in.
