The 2020 NFL Draft won’t be an affair of crowds and clusters in 2020, but the Redskins are still planning to do something special for the event.

The coronavirus epidemic sweeping across the United States has derailed not only the world of sports, but the world itself. Social distancing will continue for a period of time that seems to only increase, and there’s now talk of the 2020 NFL season potentially being impacted, after the start of in-person offseason workouts was already delayed.

The speculative talk of the season being impacted has merit, but for now, the NFL is taking it one step at a time, and the 2020 NFL Draft serves as the next stepping stone on the list. As of now, the NFL Draft is still set to commence as planned, but without the crowds. Instead, it will be conducted virtually, and teams will be able to make their selections without the risk of contamination.

For this peculiar NFL Draft session, the Washington Redskins plan to hold a virtual draft experience that will be streamed live for three hours on each draft night, on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The draft experience will feature current Redskins executives such as Ron Rivera and Kyle Smith, as well as players and former players such as Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins and former Redskins standout Brian Mitchell.

It’s at least notable that Haskins is confirmed to be a part of the draft day festivities for the Redskins, as there has been some limited speculation this offseason that the Redskins could pick a quarterback at No. 2 overall. While that possibility has seemed unlikely for much of the offseason, it’s even more unlikely now that Haskins will be one of the players on the team’s draft day live stream. Picking his replacement with him on air doesn’t seem like a likely outcome.

Next. Why the Redskins should draft EDGE Chase Young. dark

That said, while quarterback is ruled out at No. 2, there are plenty of other options on the board. The Redskins could pick vaunted edge rusher Chase Young, or they could trade back, acquire more assets, and fill more needs with their added capital. It’s all on the table, and from April 23 to April 25, you’ll get to have a front row seat from your living room couch!
