2020 NFL Mock Draft: Dueling GMs mock sees Redskins make big move
By Ian Cummings
Ian: Andrew Thomas has commonly been the fourth offensive tackle taken in mocks, but this time around, he goes third amidst his positional counterparts.
Part of this is due to fit, as the Browns need a left tackle, and Jedrick Wills, the other tackle remaining on the board, played exclusively at right tackle with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Thomas is a better fit for the Browns’ need because that’s the side he has an affinity with.
Additionally, however, Thomas is a solid prospect in his own right. He’s a very good lateral athlete for the position, and he brings crazy length, with arms over 36 inches long. This length allows Thomas to cultivate leverage on any snap, and he knows how to use it to dominate.
With Thomas and Jack Conklin, the Browns, for the first time in a long time, have two quality starting offensive tackles, and this could be the change that catalyzes Baker Mayfield’s further development, after a down year in 2019.
