No. 4 – Baylor WR Denzel Mims

The 2020 NFL Draft is very much a stacked receiver class, and while getting a first-round receiver would be nice for the Redskins, were they to trade back, it’s far from a necessity. The depth and the thickness of the early-tier receiver group gives Washington some flexibility, and one such option is to trade into Round 2 for a target like Denzel Mims.

There are other receivers who also warrant consideration, like Michigan’s Donovan Peoples-Jones and TCU’s Jalen Reagor, but Mims has the safest profile, which a proportionally high amount of upside. Mims is a near-elite athlete, with 4.38 speed and a 38-inch vertical to compliment a 6-foot-3, 207-inch frame and a huge 78.5-inch wingspan.

Mims uses his athleticism to get open on tape, and he also has a good amount of toughness in his game. He’s sturdy in contested situations, and with his length, he’s very active against press coverage, something that will be very important at the NFL level. Mims would provide the Redskins with an excellent blend of size and dynamism opposite Terry McLaurin, and for a young offense on the rise, his addition would certainly be worth what it takes.
