Post-free agency full NFL two-round mock: Redskins trade down
By Ian Cummings
Since 2013, the Minnesota Vikings have drafted three cornerbacks in Round 1, and another in Round 2. Traditional trends imply that the Vikings will indulge in their most predictable habit yet again this year.
Investing first-round selections into the cornerback position is far from a careless strategy; cornerback is one of the most important positions for the modern defense, and this year, after losing Trae Waynes, Xavier Rhodes, and Mackensie Alexander in free agency, the Vikings need new starting talent.
At No. 25, TCU’s Jeff Gladney is a great fit for Minnesota. Gladney is a near-elite athlete with good short-area quickness, who’s almost quicker with his mental processing and instinctive anticipation. Gladney also offers good proportional length for his size, and he’d provide a high-upside player with early starting ability on the Vikings’ back end.
