No. 4 – Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron

The Redskins did sign a tight end yesterday in Logan Thomas, but while he’s a good athlete, he’s 29 years old and has never eclipsed 200 yards in a season. Before 2019, in fact, he hadn’t eclipsed 100 yards. The Redskins need more at the tight end position, and more is something that Eric Ebron can provide.

Ebron is a bit inconsistent as a player, but he’d offer a new ceiling for the Redskins tight end group, providing good athleticism and size at just 27 years old. Ebron is just one year removed from his career-best season, in which he logged 750 yards and 13 touchdowns on 66 catches. In 2019, Ebron’s production waned greatly, due to both injuries and quarterback inconsistency.

Reports suggest that, as of now, Ebron is asking for too much for the Redskins to consider signing him. It’s encouraging that the Redskins aren’t simply willing to throw money at big names, but at the same time, they need a substantial infusion of talent at the tight end position, and that’s something Ebron can provide at this stage. It’s a position that can’t be taken for granted, especially after seeing how willing Dwayne Haskins was to give his tight ends chances in 2019.
