WR Demarcus Robinson

Over the course of the past four seasons, Demarcus Robinson has steadily earned a bigger role in the Kansas City Chiefs offense. And in 2019, he emerged as a consistent option for the team and a potential No. 2 wideout.

Though Robinson played in a receiving corps that featured Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Travis Kelce, Mecole Hardman, and Damien Williams coming out of the backfield, he still made the most of his time with Patrick Mahomes.

Early in the season, it seemed that Robinson was having a breakthrough and the 6-foot-1 receiver had a signature game in Week 2 against the then-Oakland Raiders. Robinson caught six passes for 172 yards and a touchdown and showed off excellent hands and great speed.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Robinson benefited from playing with Mahomes. That certainly helped him post career-best numbers of 32 catches, 449 receiving yards, and four touchdowns. But Mahomes aside, Robinson showed that he has the tools needed to be a solid starter at receiver and if he hadn’t been on a crowded depth chart in Kansas City, he could’ve shined more in his contract year.

It seems likely that a team will take a chance on Robinson and give him a shot to earn a true starting job. He won’t turn 26 until September and with his athletic profile, he could easily become a No. 2 receiver in the right scenario.

Could that be with the Redskins? They are potentially looking for a veteran on the outside considering their interest in Cooper. Could they offer Robinson a short-term deal with a lot of incentives to see if he can be a starter? It may be worth it. The deep 2020 receiver draft class may hurt Robinson’s overall value, and if he lingers on the market, he could end up being a nice bargain signing with a lot of upside.

If the Redskins want a veteran receiver, Robinson could fit the bill. And he’s certainly still young enough to continue growing at the NFL level.
