The XFL will not be playing another game in 2020. Here are some XFL free agents that the Washington Redskins could target in wake of this news.

For the second straight season, a spring football league has failed to finish their inaugural season. Well, in the XFL’s case, that inaugural season was technically their second, but it was their first since 2001 and they had a completely new directive after that failed endeavor.

This time around, the league wasn’t killed by ratings or poor play. Instead, the coronavirus pandemic has caused the sporting world to shut down. And with it, the XFL has cancelled the rest of their regular season but is planning on returning in 2021, as of this point.

That said, it will likely be with a different player pool. The league confirmed that the players under contract for this season will now be free to sign with NFL teams. Many of them will land on NFL 90-man rosters but may return to the XFL if they don’t make the cut to the 53-man roster or practice squad.

The Washington Redskins should surely have an interest in some of the XFL free agents out there. Simply put, there is talent available at positions of need for the Redskins. So, why wouldn’t they take a flyer on some of these guys? At the very worst, they end up being cut in the preseason. Best case, maybe they’ll find some role players for their team moving forward.

Here’s a look at the best options for the Redskins to consider in the coming weeks.
