Chicago Bears. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. 4. player. 57. . Safety

Remember him? The Redskins traded a fourth-round pick for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix ahead of the 2018 NFL trade deadline. He had an up and down performance with the team as a starter, but he did enough for the team to want to keep him in free agency.

Ultimately, the Redskins would lose out to the Chicago Bears for Clinton-Dix’s services. The Alabama product signed a one-year deal worth $3 million to replace Adrian Amos. And in his starting role with the Bears, Clinton-Dix found success.

Clinton-Dix was strong in coverage for the Bears. He grabbed two interceptions and allowed a passer rating of just 69.2 on the season, per Pro Football Focus. And in addition to his performance in coverage, Clinton-Dix was a solid tackler in run support and generated 78 tackles on the season.

Thanks to his strong performance in both categories, the loss of Amos didn’t negatively impact the Bears too much.

If the Redskins want to land a solid partner for Collins, Clinton-Dix could fit the bill. He’s a well-rounded safety and should continue to perform well in coverage. And if the team added a player of his caliber, they would have a chance to greatly improve their secondary, as they’d have two jack-of-all-trades types at the safety position.

Of course, it’s worth noting that Clinton-Dix was a player coveted by the previous regime. And Ron Rivera may want someone else, especially given that Clinton-Dix was far from perfect and seemed to be an unwilling tackler at times in his half a season with the Redskins.
