The Washington Redskins have a couple of guards set to hit free agency in 2020. Here are some free-agent options for the team to consider.

Last season, the guard position wasn’t much of a problem for the Washington Redskins. They finally seemed to find a competent player at the left guard position after years of dealing with Shawn Lauvao and injury replacements at the position.

Ereck Flowers did well in his first year on the inside and the team was likely pleased with his progress there. He was just a fine starter but relative to expectations, he had a great season.

Meanwhile, on the right side of the ball, the Redskins had Brandon Scherff play the right guard position. Scherff dealt with some more injury issues and didn’t have his best campaign, but he was still a great blocker in the middle. His performance along with Flowers helped to solidify the interior line in a season where the Redskins really needed to find some success.

But now, both Flowers and Scherff are hitting free agency. The ‘Skins will probably want to retain one, or both depending on the progress of 2019 fourth-round pick Wes Martin. But either way, they’re going to be involved in the free-agent guard market. It’s just a matter of whether they’ll be looking to re-sign their own players, add a new starter, or target some depth to shore up the middle of the line.

With that said, here are five guards the Redskins could target this offseason.
