Free agency is just around the corner for the Washington Redskins. Here are some free agent thoughts on Brandon Scherff, Amari Cooper, and Austin Hooper.

It’s speculation season, a period of time that personally I consider the most annoying and frustrating part of the year. As fans, we want to know what players are high on the team’s draft board.  Will they consider a trade of the second overall pick?  Will they orchestrate a move to secure a secound-round pick? Could they possibly be considering a quarterback at No. 2?

Then, we have questions about free agency.  Will Brandon Scherff be extended and at what cost?  What will a restructured Ryan Kerrigan deal look like?  Which players are the Redskins pursuing?  Oh, and it wouldn’t be a Redskins off-season without drama; this year’s includes the Trent Williams saga and the flip-flopping of Quinton Dunbar after he asked for a trade.

There’s no wonder why this time of year is so exhausting. Fans arguing about what the team should do. The media scrambling for answers they just don’t have. Ultimately, we’re merely filling the days our days with opinions until the real answers become clear. Those real answers begin to show themselves on March 16th when the legal tampering period starts, and slowly, speculation season starts to diminish until it disappears near the end of April in Las Vegas.

But today is March 12th, the peak of speculation season. Outlined below is my contribution to the madness, take it for what it’s worth.

I’m choosing free agency and how the Redskins might approach spending their $62 million in available cap space.
