NFL Combine testing ends today, and the Redskins will get a chance to view the defensive backs in live action.

The defensive backs represent a position group that should attract considerable interest from the Washington Redskins, given their prevalent need at the position. Aside from Landon Collins, every other starter could be gone from their role in 2020, and that potential turnover calls for a lot of studying, when it comes to both the 2020 NFL Draft and the free agent class.

We’ve done some work on some of the top defensive backs in this free agent class, but today, it’s the incoming draft class that takes center stage at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. The 2020 NFL Draft features an incredibly deep cornerback class, as well as a safety group that offers some intriguing upside in pockets.

With the Redskins currently lacking a second-round pick, a lot of these players might not be in their range, unless they find a way to recoup that selection through trades. But with an early third-round pick, there’s a chance the Redskins could find a steal, and this cornerback class has a lot of potential to offer in that regard. Here are some defensive backs at each position to watch at the NFL Combine’s Sunday events.

2020 NFL Draft Cornerbacks to Watch

  • Ohio State CB Jeffrey Okudah
  • Florida CB C.J. Henderson
  • TCU CB Jeff Gladney
  • Auburn CB Noah Igbinoghene
  • Mississippi State CB Cameron Dantzler
  • Ohio State CB Damon Arnette
  • Notre Dame CB Troy Pride Jr.
  • Virginia CB Bryce Hall
  • Clemson CB A.J. Terrell
  • Louisiana Tech CB Amik Robertson
  • UCF CB Nevelle Clark
  • Michigan CB Lavert Hill

Safety isn’t as big of a need as cornerback for the Redskins, as there’s a chance Montae Nicholson could be given another shot under Ron Rivera. But the team needs more security at free safety, as well as depth overall, if they are to withstand the rigors of a full season. Here are some safeties to watch, with that in mind.

  • Minnesota S Antoine Winfield Jr.
  • Southern Illinois S Jeremy Chinn
  • Utah S Julian Blackmon
  • California S Ashtyn Davis
  • Iowa S Geno Stone
