Jason Strowbridge didn’t have massive sack numbers during his time at North Carolina. But over the course of the pre-draft process, he has improved his standing in the eyes of talent evaulators.

In his final season with the Tar Heels, Strowbridge logged just two sacks, and he had only 10.5 sacks during his four-year playing career. But during the offseason, Strowbridge has shown off his solid size (6-foot-4, 275 pounds) and length which will figure to help him be a better pass rusher at the next level.

The big question for Strowbridge will surround his speed and agility. He looked powerful and strong at the point of attack during his time at North Carolina, but does he have enough juice to use speed as a pass rusher too? He showed a little bit of it at the Senior Bowl and if he can at least show off enough agility to beat opposing offensive linemen, he may see his stock rise and hit the early Day 3 range.

For the Redskins, Strowbridge would be a nice get as a depth piece on Day 3. He could provide backup help at the edge rush position and spend some time learning from the other excellent players the ‘Skins figure to have on their roster. The team may not want to spend an early Day 3 pick on depth, but if they get into the latter stages of Day 3 and Strowbridge is hanging around, they may take him to provide depth for their new defensive look.

Keeping an eye on Strowbridge would be a sensible decision for the Redskins, and his numbers in the 3-cone drill will be especially important as he looks to move up draft boards.
