The Washington Redskins aren’t in need of a young quarterback this offseason. But they should still be keeping an eye on some of the prospects in action at the 2020 NFL Combine.

Dwayne Haskins is almost certainly going to be given a chance to prove that he’s the franchise quarterback of the future for the Washington Redskins. The second-year player enters the 2020 offseason as the only quarterback the team has that is guaranteed to be both healthy and under contract this upcoming year. So, while the team may add veteran competition to light a fire under him and give him a solid backup, they may not necessarily look to draft a quarterback.

That said, the Redskins still will be keeping an eye on quarterbacks in case they want to draft a young backup in the later rounds. And since they’re armed with the No. 2 overall pick, they need to know about all the top prospects surrounding that selection so they can make the best-informed decision about who to select.

No, they aren’t likely to take a quarterback with the second pick, even despite the fact that Ron Rivera won’t say that Haskins is the favorite to start. That’s more of a motivational tool being used to light a fire under Haskins.

Really the point of looking at the QBs available early is related to trade options. If they get the vibe that someone really wants to trade up to get one of the top overall passers, they have to know their exact values to get the most out of a trade, or better yet, drive the price up.

With that said, here’s a look at the quarterback prospects that the Redskins should be keeping a close eye on as medical checks, interviews, and combine drills continue.
