Redskins Vice President of Player Personnel Kyle Smith gave a press conference at the NFL Combine on Tuesday. Here are the biggest takeaways from that presser.

The Washington Redskins are entering a critical offseason and they are under new leadership. Kyle Smith is now in charge of the front office while Ron Rivera is running the team and working with Smith to rebuild the Redskins after the end of the Bruce Allen era.

At the NFL Combine, Smith gave a press conference and spoke of how things are going amid the leadership changes and what the Redskins plans are for this offseason.

Without further ado, here’s a look at the five biggest takeaways from the press conference:

1. Smith and Ron Rivera seem to have a good working relationship

This is the biggest takeaway from Smith’s press conference. It seems that he and Ron Rivera are working together collaboratively and are setting a plan for how to attack free agency and the draft today.

“I love how things are running [with Rivera],” Smith said during the press conference, per Kyle Stackpole of the Redskins official website.

This is obviously a big deal, as it demonstrates that the coaching staff and front office are working harmoniously. That wasn’t something that was always the case when Bruce Allen and Jay Gruden were in town.

Beyond that, it seems that Smith is doing most of the work for the draft and will have Rivera weigh in once the team has their board set. Meanwhile, the team is honing in on free-agent targets and they seem to be ready to attack that process with a plan in place.
