25. player. 60. . Safety. Minnesota Vikings. Xavier McKinney

Much like the Cowboys, the Vikings are in cap hell. That’s largely thanks to the massive guaranteed contract they gave to Kirk Cousins. Cousins is set to be a free agent after this offseason, but his deal will start to wreak havoc as the Vikings will have to part with some talented players this offseason because they can’t afford them.

One such player may be Anthony Harris. The free-agent safety is one of the best cover men in the NFL and he led the league in interceptions last season with six. A team with a lot of cap space could easily outbid the Vikings for his services, so they may have to find a replacement.

Luckily for them, the draft’s consensus top safety is on the board. Xavier McKinney. The Alabama product could’ve gone in the top 15 but slipped a bit as a few safety-needy teams passed on him to address other positions.

Over the course of his two seasons as a starter, McKinney did a bit of everything for Alabama. He totaled 169 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, five interceptions, and 15 pass defenses while providing great coverage in the back end. He an all-around great player and should pair well with Harrison Smith, another one of the NFL’s best safeties.

McKinney fills a need and is clearly the best value on the board. The Vikings won’t waste much time handing in their draft card if this happens, and McKinney is one of the biggest steals in this mock.
