Heart of Gold: LS Nick Sundberg

Nick Sundberg doesn’t get a lot of attention. He’s not supposed to, after all. He’s a long snapper, and if long snappers are doing their jobs right, they often go unnoticed.

But off the field, Sundberg has done some amazing work with his Loads of Love charity. In two of the past three seasons, he has been recognized as the Redskins’ Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.

Loads of Love’s goal is to “install laundry facilities in schools and non-profit organizations to directly impact children experiencing homelessness or an unstable living situation at no cost to them or their families”, according to the Redskins official website. Over the course of the past three years, Sundberg’s charity has raised $750,000 for 91 schools and non-profits.

Safe to say that Sundberg is doing some excellent work in the community. And he surely qualifies for the “Heart of Gold” superlative in this one. Hopefully, he will continue to do good work both on and off the field.
