Ur A Star: WR Terry McLaurin

No, it’s not too early to anoint Terry McLaurin a potential star.

After being a third-round pick out of Ohio State, McLaurin quickly became the No. 1 receiver for the Redskins. He proved to be an excellent route runner and found plenty of open space thanks to that. But he was also able to use his speed to beat cornerbacks deep on a number of occasions.

During his rookie season, McLaurin ended up catching 58 passes for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. He did this despite playing with three different start quarterbacks and while dealing with inconsistencies in Dwayne Haskins‘ game throughout his half a season as a starter.

There’s no doubt that McLaurin is the Redskins No. 1 receiver. And if their quarterback situation improves (read: if Haskins makes the leap in his second year) the sky is the limit for him.

The transition to the NFL isn’t always an easy one for receivers. McLaurin was one of the three best rookie receivers in the NFL alongside A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf. He should be viewed as a budding star and if he progresses in his second season, we’ll fondly look back at this and smile.

So yeah, Terry McLaurin, “Ur a star!” Keep doing what you’re doing.
