Don’t Be That Way: CB Quinton Dunbar

Earlier this week, it was reported that Quinton Dunbar was going to skip Redskins OTAs this offseason. After that, it was rumored to have become a trade request and that Dunbar didn’t want to play for the Redskins anymore.

Dunbar has since backtracked on demanding a trade. But regardless, the damage was already done a bit. And as a result, we’re giving Dunbar the “Don’t Be That Way” heart.

Listen, Dunny, there’s no doubt that you deserve a new contract. You’ve been one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL over the course of the past two seasons and without you, the Redskins have nothing at the position.

But please, give the new coaching staff and restructured front office a chance before you demand a trade. There is hopefully a way for you to get the extension you deserve at some point in the near future. And maybe it will even involve guaranteeing the money that you’re owed this year along with a multi-year extension.

By all means, sit out OTAs. That’s totally fine, especially after you bore witness to what happened to Reuben Foster last season. But just give the new regime a chance to convince you to stay before you want out.

It’s too early to say what will happen and you know the situation far better than anyone else. Just give the team a chance to recognize how important you are to their success. They surely will be able to do that, especially if you can stay healthy during the 2020 campaign.
