Kyle Hundley: OT Jack Conklin

In my opinion, the free agent the Redskins need to go after the most this offseason is the former right tackle of the Tennessee Titans, Jack Conklin. Conklin played a pivotal role in the Titans’ run to the AFC championship, opening up some big holes for Derrick Henry to run through. He has a nastiness to him that I love in a tackle.

Conklin was drafted eighth overall back in 2016 and experienced immediate success, as he was a first-team all-pro as a rookie. So it’s clear that he is immensely talented. Upgrading the offensive line talent this offseason should be a priority for Washington, and he can help with that upgrade.

Another thing working for Conklin is his age. Despite having played in the league for four years already, Conklin is still just 25 years old. He will turn 26 in August, so he still has a lot of good years left.

More from Commanders Free Agency

Conklin did tear his ACL back in the 2017 playoffs but worked vigorously to come back from it. He also ended the 2018 season on IR, so he does have some injury concerns. But he has started 57 games in his four years, including all 16 this year, plus three playoff games. So hopefully, his injury concerns are behind him.

Morgan Moses has regressed badly since signing his big-money contract in 2017 and is someone I believe the team should look at moving on from this offseason. Behind him, second-year swing tackle Geron Christian hasn’t shown much development since getting drafted, so the Redskins do have a need at the position. Conklin can step in and be your new right tackle for 2020 and beyond.
