Redskins: Five standouts from the 2020 Reese’s Senior Bowl
By Ian Cummings
No. 1 – North Team EDGE Bradlee Anae
Chase Young is #good, as we explained earlier this week in detail. He’s a near-transcendent talent on the edge who will undoubtedly garner serious consideration at No. 2 overall. But lost in the hype around Young is the fact that there are still edge players who will produce at the next level behind him, and some of those players showed out on Sunday.
Bradlee Anae of Utah headlined the group, wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks with his impressive combination of athleticism in the trenches, hand placement, and unending motor. He had multiple sacks on the day, and was a big reason why the South offense stalled out early.
Anae is a stockier edge rusher at around 6-foot-3, 267, but he has the combination of solid athletic ability and fundamental prowess to ensure a measured degree of success at the next level. Some have labeled him a Top 50 prospect, so he might not be in the Redskins range. But if they do pass on Chase Young, Anae is a player worth watching.
Other edge rushers who stood out at the Senior Bowl include Michigan’s Josh Uche and Michigan State’s Kenny Willikes, both of whom made consistent impacts on defense.
