Redskins sign five players to reserve/future contracts
With the offseason now underway, teams are able to sign players to reserve/future contracts. And the Washington Redskins added five such players to their roster on Monday.
We’re at the point in the offseason when NFL teams can begin to start signing players to reserve/future contracts.
Once the regular season ends, players can agree to deals with players that were on their practice squad or were not on NFL rosters to close the season. These deals, known as “reserve/future contracts”, are basically holdovers until the new league year begins in March. The players can sign now and will occupy a spot on the 90-man roster at that time.
And the Redskins added five of these players to their roster on Monday. They are as follows:

- WR Jordan Veasy
Of the group, Bee and Hall are the most intriguing names. Bee, a 6-foot-7 defensive lineman, signed with the Redskins as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall. He was a productive all-around player with the Thundering Herd and had 4.0 sacks per season for the squad. He was on the ‘Skins active roster for one game this season and has potential, especially if the team needs more bodies up front amid a potential change to a 4-3 defense.
Meanwhile, Hall went undrafted out of Missouri in the 2019 NFL Draft but the 6-foot-3 playmaker has some serious potential. In his final year with the Tigers, he totaled 828 yards on 37 catches for an average of 22.4 yards per catch. If not for injury issues, it’s likely that he would have been a Day 3 pick.
These players should be monitored going forward. The Redskins have hit on some reserve/future players in the past. Ziggy Hood was signed during Super Bowl week and became a valuable contributor on the team’s defensive line for a couple of seasons. They also landed Phil Taylor, who was on track to be their starting nose tackle before injuries took their toll. So, they have done a decent job in this area recently.
We’ll see if any of these guys can make the roster. But Bee and Hall would certainly be the guys to watch moving forward.
