3. The Redskins are in good shape at quarterback

Just a few weeks ago, there was a little chatter about the poor performance of Dwayne Haskins. He hadn’t looked good at all as a rookie and there were some who thought that he might be a lost cause.

But after these last two performances, there should be little doubt that Haskins at least has the potential to be a top quarterback at the next level.

Haskins followed up an excellent performance against the Eagles by dominating the Giants in the first half before leaving with an ankle injury. Sure, both defenses that he has performed well against aren’t very good. And specifically, they are weak in the secondary.

But Haskins has shown a lot of growth in these games nonetheless, and he deserves credit for the strides he made after being thrown into the fire. He avoided turnovers against the Giants and once he gets a bit better at getting rid of the ball and avoiding sacks, he should be good.

It wasn’t just Haskins who performed well in this game though. Case Keenum played very well in relief of Haskins and led the team on a game-tying 99-yard touchdown drive near the end of regulation. He was impressive and avoided turnovers as well.

While Keenum may not want to stick around in Washington — he may seek out a starting opportunity elsewhere if one becomes available — the team should at least consider making him an offer to stay. Either way, if they get a solid veteran backup, they will be in good shape at the quarterback position.
